Preview: West Forsyth Titans vs. Southwest Guilford Cowboys
After both having extra time off, the West Forsyth Titans and the Southwest Guilford Cowboys will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with West Forsyth sitting on four straight wins and Southwest Guilford on seven.
Last Friday, West Forsyth didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Parkland, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Forsyth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marissa Vernon, who scored 15 points. The contest was Vernon's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell McClain, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwest Guilford scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They came out on top against Western Guilford by a score of 75-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
West Forsyth pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Southwest Guilford, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
West Forsyth was able to grind out a solid victory over Southwest Guilford when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 47-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Forsyth since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
