Basketball Recap: Tonopah Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maryvale Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tonopah Valley). Everything went their way against the Maryvale Prep Matador on Saturday as the Tonopah Valley Phoenix made off with a 73-49 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Phoenix with their most commanding win of the season.

Tonopah Valley had a senior duo take command as Daniel Huerta dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds and Xavier Valentine almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huerta has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Najea Cooper, who posted two points and six boards.

Tonopah Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Tonopah Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-10. As for Maryvale Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Tonopah Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-24 loss against Parker on the 14th. As for Maryvale Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-35 defeat against Anthem Prep on the 14th.
