Meanwhile, Southwestern Academy came into Thursday's matchup having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged New Covenant Academy out 58-55. The Sun's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Southwestern Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Waverly took a serious blow against Southwestern Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 59-21. Can Waverly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
