Basketball Recap: Madison Highland Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cade Carlstrom and Jaycob Young

If Madison Highland Prep was feeling good fresh off their 67-23 takedown of BASIS Phoenix last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Madison Highland Prep Heat and the Phoenix Christian Cougars didn't end well, with the Madison Highland Prep Heat falling 77-63. The Heat were down 63-42 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Jaycob Young and Cade Carlstrom certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Young went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points, while Carlstrom dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Carlstrom a new career-high in assists (seven). Brody Mccown was another key player, putting up nine points.

Madison Highland Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Phoenix Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison Highland Prep will square off against Camp Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Phoenix Christian has already played their next contest (against Red Rock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
