Basketball Game Preview: Francis W. Parker Colonels vs. Latin Romans

Francis W. Parker and Latin are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Francis W. Parker Colonels will face off against the Latin Romans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Francis W. Parker came up short against Ridgewood and fell 77-69. The Colonels have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Latin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Saint Viator and fell 69-26. While losing is never fun, the Romans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Lions are ranked 88th).

Latin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Francis W. Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Francis W. Parker skirted past Latin 71-69 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Francis W. Parker since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
