Baseball Game Preview: New Oxford Colonials vs. West York Area Bulldogs

The New Oxford Colonials will head out to face off against the West York Area Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. New Oxford will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

New Oxford gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Littlestown. While the Colonials didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tristyn Yerka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, New Oxford let Gavin Haifley and Alex Brown run wild. Haifley scored two runs and stole three bases, while Brown scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Haifley a new career-high. Cash Markel also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

West York Area might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to York County Tech, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Oxford's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for West York Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

New Oxford beat West York Area 8-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Will New Oxford repeat their success, or does West York Area has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
