Softball Recap: Ben L. Smith Takes a Loss

Ben L. Smith extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 25-10 to the Dudley Panthers. Even if the Golden Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ben L. Smith got a big performance out of Kimmonie McKellar, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of La.Charity Saddler, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Dudley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Dudley's side, Josalyn Williamson-Price was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Egypt Cheek was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Ben L. Smith will head out to square off against Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dudley, they will venture away from home to challenge Asheboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Comets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
