Softball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

With a playoff win on the line, Archbishop McCarthy rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 win. Considering the Mavericks have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sienna Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lydia Springer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Archbishop McCarthy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

As of now, neither Archbishop McCarthy nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
