Softball Preview: Taylor Griffins vs. Riverview Pirates
Taylor is 0-3 against Riverview since May of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Griffins will square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Taylor is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They fell 10-6 to Carlson.
Madelynn Waddell ?26 was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed over her last five matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Rochelle Mcadoo ?28 was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Sierra Murdoch ?25 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Riverview was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Mary Catholic Central.
Taylor's record is now 7-12. As for Riverview, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7-1.
Taylor might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Riverview in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
