The Harrison Central Red Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrison Central hasn't scored more than 13 points for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Harrison Central had taken St. Martin down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Red Rebels were beaten by the Yellow Jackets 50-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Rebels have suffered against the Yellow Jackets since October 11, 2019.
Despite the loss, Harrison Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ke'Adrian Brown picked up 130 receiving yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs faced West Harrison in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Greyhounds breezed past the Hurricanes to the tune of 56-21. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Harrison Central better keep an eye on Solomon Baggett. He was instrumental in Ocean Springs' win, rushing for 203 yards and four scores on only ten carries, while also picking up 36 receiving yards. Thanks to that big game, Baggett is now up to 17 rushing touchdowns on the season. Landen Donald got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ocean Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Ocean Springs pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.2 points over those games. As for Harrison Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Harrison Central was taken down by Ocean Springs 48-3 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Red Rebels, Will Smith (who rushed for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
