Volleyball Preview: Washington Rams vs. Independence Patriots
Washington is 2-8 against Independence since August of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Washington took Tempe into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 17-25, 17-15.
Washington can attribute much of their success to Amanda Cangmah, who had six digs and two aces. The dominant performance gave Cangmah a new career-high in aces.
Meanwhile, Independence came up short against Greenway on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Patriots have struggled against the Demons recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Independence took a 1-1 lead headed into the third set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23.
Even though they lost, Independence was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Washington's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Independence, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
