Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Tri County Trojans, falling 50-22. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 45-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Tri County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabelle Peters led the charge by putting up nine points along with seven assists and five steals. Peters is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Holtmeier, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Tri County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Deshler at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Tri County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Sandy Creek at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
