Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Wildcats vs. Mineral Point Pointers

The Southwestern Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Mineral Point Pointers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwestern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Mineral Point likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Southwestern earned a 59-52 victory over Fennimore. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mineral Point put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Iowa-Grant 70-33. The Pointers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Southwestern's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Mineral Point, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Southwestern might still be hurting after the 69-49 loss they got from Mineral Point when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Southwestern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
