Softball Recap: Dundee Scotsmen vs. Addison Knights

Dundee couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 9-5 to the Addison Knights on Tuesday. Dundee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Addison apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

For Addison's part, Sadie Strauss made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Strauss was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Knowles was excellent, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Atwood, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Addison's victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Dundee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Whitman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Addison, they will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Hammondsport at 5:00 p.m. Addison is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 14.1 runs per game this season.
