Hartfield Academy is 8-2 against Brookhaven Academy since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Noah Flynn looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Hartfield Academy got a massive performance out of Sam Sheffield, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, Sheffield posted four hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Henry Abt was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Hartfield Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brookhaven Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 8-0 to Hartfield Academy on Tuesday.
Brookhaven Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Hartfield Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.7 runs. As for Brookhaven Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Hartfield Academy's way against Brookhaven Academy in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Hartfield Academy made off with an 8-0 victory.
