Football Game Preview: Haltom Buffalos vs. Richardson Eagles + How To Watch

The Haltom Buffalos will head out on the road to square off against the Richardson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Haltom will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points last Friday, then bounced right back against Sam Houston on Thursday. The Buffalos never let the Texans get on the board and left with a 48-0 victory. That looming 48-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Buffalos yet this season.

Vudrico Roberson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Elijah Lewis also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Haltom was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Richardson waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They breezed past the Cardinals to the tune of 42-7. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than 34 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Richardson's win came from a few key players Haltom will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rico Harris, who rushed for 140 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Lucas Sawyer was another key player, throwing for 247 yards and four touchdowns.

Haltom's record now sits at 4-6. As for Richardson, their record is now 7-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Haltom has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 261.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Richardson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Haltom came up short against Richardson when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 28-19. Can the Buffalos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
