Football Recap: Clinton Prairie Gophers vs. Taylor Titans
If Clinton Prairie was feeling good fresh off their 38-0 takedown of Delphi Community last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gophers had to suffer through a 40-8 loss at the hands of the Taylor Titans. The Gophers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Alex King and Braiden Jarboe certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. King rushed for 56 yards and one TD on only six carries, while Jarboe rushed for 53 yards. An impressive showing, but Jarboe really ramped things up playing D: he picked up two sacks and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Even if they lost, Clinton Prairie's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kyeson Habbinga and Jarboe, who racked up all four sacks between them.
Javionne Harris had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 187 yards and a pair of TDs for Taylor. That's the most passing yards Harris has posted since back in August of 2024.
Clinton Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Clinton Prairie has already played their next game, a 51-12 defeat against Carroll on the 10th. Taylor has also already played their next matchup (against Tri-Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
