Softball Game Preview: Village Christian Crusaders vs. Valley Christian Defenders

The Village Christian Crusaders will head out to face off against the Valley Christian Defenders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Village Christian will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Chatsworth, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Crusaders skirted past the Chancellors 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Village Christian's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Versaille Arnado, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Arnado a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian beat Heritage Christian 13-9 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Defenders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Choyce Chambers was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Aubrielle Ramirez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Village Christian's record now sits at 3-4. As for Valley Christian, their record is now 10-2.

Village Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
