Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Sabinal Yellowjackets

The Utopia Buffaloes will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Sabinal Yellowjackets at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Utopia has three straight victories, Sabinal has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Utopia humbled Nueces Canyon with a 73-20 victory. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Sabinal was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 44-43 to D'Hanis.

Utopia pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Sabinal, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Utopia took their victory against Sabinal in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 69-46. Does Utopia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sabinal turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
