Preview: East Hickman County Eagles vs. Stewart County Rebels
East Hickman County is 1-9 against Stewart County since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The East Hickman County Eagles will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Stewart County Rebels at 10:30 a.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for East Hickman County and 11 for Stewart County dating back to last season.
Last Friday, East Hickman County might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting University School of Jackson an easy 67-47 win. While losing is never fun, East Hickman County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while University School of Jackson is ranked 73rd).
Meanwhile, Stewart County took a serious blow against McEwen on Monday, falling 66-37. Stewart County has struggled against McEwen recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
East Hickman County's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-9. As for Stewart County, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
East Hickman County came up short against Stewart County in their previous matchup back in February, falling 53-40. Can East Hickman County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
