Softball Recap: Racine Case Comes Up Short

Racine Case had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-7 to make it four. They fell 8-4 to the Kenosha Tremper Trojans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2023, but that streak is no more.

McKynna Szymandera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

On Kenosha Tremper's side, Sophia Murphy made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Murphy has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

In other batting news, Kenosha Tremper let Camille Sporer and Finley Koziol run wild. Sporer went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Koziol got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Sporer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava DeBartolo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Racine Case will take on Franklin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sabers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kenosha Tremper, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Wilmot at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.69 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
