Volleyball Recap: West Orange Comes Up Short

West Orange was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newark Academy Minutemen. The Mountaineers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Minutemen earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

West Orange was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-15.

Nola Duncan paced West Orange's offense, picking up ten kills. Duncan got some help from Cailee Cassidy and her ten assists.

West Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Newark Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4-1 record this season.

West Orange will welcome Cedar Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Newark Academy has already played their next matchup (against Passaic Arts & Science Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
