Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Fairmont Firebirds
The Talawanda Brave will head out on the road to face off against the Fairmont Firebirds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Talawanda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Firebirds are ranked 88th).
On Wednesday, Talawanda had to suffer through a rough 52-16 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. Talawanda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-5.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fairmont beat the Elks 48-42 on Wednesday.
Kaylah Thornton was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Clara VonHandorf was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Talawanda's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Fairmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
