Basketball Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

Lawrence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 30th straight defeat dating back to last season. The matchup between them and the Friends Academy Quakers didn't end well, with the Lawrence Golden Tornadoes falling 51-37. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 854th, while the Quakers are ranked 403rd).

Leading Friends Academy to victory were Eyan Valadez and Shane Kramer. Valadez posted eight points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Kramer put up nine points. Valadez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Tyler Ferdinand was another key player, putting up six points.

Lawrence's record now sits at 0-11. As for Friends Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Lawrence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 85-44 loss against Malverne on the 28th. Friends Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 47-36 win against Hempstead on the 29th.
