Softball Recap: Flinthills' Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Flinthills dropped their record down to 2-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Oxford Wildcats, falling 15-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Wildcats since May 3, 2021.

Alex Scribner and Emily Scribner stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alex got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, while Emily went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Emily's first of the season. Karynn Gleason was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Oxford, they moved to 3-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

On Oxford's side, Sophia Bain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Cora Gillenwater was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mayfield, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oxford beat Flinthills by a score of 24-21 later that day.
