Recap: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Burke Bulldogs

The Bellevue East Chieftains's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burke. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (61), Bellevue East still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Bellevue East still got an impressive performance from Kris Brown, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ammi Williams, who scored 14 points.

Among those leading the charge was Nate Vereen-burton, who scored 21 points along with five assists. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Ryan Rummel was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Bellevue East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Burke, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue East will take on Lincoln Southwest at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Burke won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Benson at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Benson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday.
