Baseball Recap: Kankakee Comes Up Short

Bishop McNamara hit Kankakee with a six-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Kays lost 13-0 to the Fightin' Irish. The Kays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fightin' Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Kankakee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexander Grill, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Kankakee and nudges their season record down to 8-16. As for Bishop McNamara, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kankakee will host Clifton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop McNamara, they will be playing at home against Newman Central Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Fightin' Irish have won four straight at home, while the Comets won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
