Softball Recap: Murphysboro Takes a Loss

Murphysboro fell victim to Carterville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 16-0 to the Lions. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Carterville, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Murphysboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-1 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 30th. As for Carterville, they will host Waltonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are on a 28-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Spartans a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
