Soccer Game Preview: Lynbrook vs. Monta Vista

The Lynbrook Vikings will challenge the Monta Vista Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynbrook's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Lynbrook is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Milpitas on Tuesday. Neither Lynbrook nor Milpitas could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Lynbrook's goal came courtesy of Ethan Zou, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Monta Vista kept a clean sheet against Evergreen Valley on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Cougars. Given the Matadors' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Cougars are ranked 1067th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monta Vista's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matches. Lynbrook's draw gives them a new season record of 7-4-1.

Lynbrook skirted past Monta Vista 2-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lynbrook since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
