 Hidden Valley couldn't quite beat Lord Botetourt on Wednesday but the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the nine-point  loss they were dealt  last Tuesday. The Hidden Valley Titans fell just short of the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers by a score of  3-1. Hidden Valley's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
 Hidden Valley got a good showing from  Caleb Hagadorn, who   struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   four  hits. Hagadorn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Hidden Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brendon Ross, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 On Lord Botetourt's side,  Caleb O'Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered one  run (which was  unearned)  on three hits.
 On the hitting side,  JJ Tyree was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Noah Donaho, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with  an  RBI.
 Hidden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Lord Botetourt, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
 Hidden Valley will head out on the road to  square off against  Christiansburg at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Lord Botetourt, they will play host again  on Friday to welcome Northside, where first pitch is scheduled  at 5:30  p.m. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.4  runs per game  this season.
