Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Catholic Knights vs. Scotus Shamrocks

The Norfolk Catholic Knights will head out on the road to take on the Scotus Shamrocks on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Norfolk Catholic is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Battle Creek on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Norfolk Catholic lost 53-32 to Battle Creek. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Braves are ranked 20th).

The losing side was boosted by Sidonia Wattier, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Scotus has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-45 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop Neumann. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Shamrocks have suffered against the Cavaliers since January 4, 2018.

Norfolk Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Scotus, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Norfolk Catholic beat Scotus 40-30 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norfolk Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
