Softball Game Preview: Bridges Prep Buccaneers vs. First Baptist School Hurricanes

The Bridges Prep Buccaneers will venture away from home to challenge the First Baptist School Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bridges Prep has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while First Baptist School will come in with three straight wins.

On Wednesday, Bridges Prep came up short against Lowcountry Leadership and fell 16-11.

Olivia Randall and Mallorie Brown stepped up to the plate in a big way. Randall got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI, while Brown scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Grace Smyth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Bridges Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, First Baptist School earned a 12-7 victory over Hilton Head Christian Academy on Thursday.

First Baptist School's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.3 runs this season. As for Bridges Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
