Softball Game Preview: Tipton Cardinals vs. Concordia Fighting Orioles

The Tipton Cardinals will face off against the Concordia Fighting Orioles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tipton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Concordia will come in with four straight victories.

It was a proper cat-fight when Tipton faced off against Green Ridge on Monday. The Cardinals took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Anna Crane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Myra Haas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Raylyn Wilfong also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Concordia faced Crest Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Fighting Orioles never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Orioles have posted against the Cougars since April 6, 2023.

Concordia's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Roepe, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Concordia hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Concordia's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Tipton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
