Baseball Recap: Van Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After losing to Atlanta the last time they met, Van decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Van Vandals came out on top against the Atlanta Rabbits by a score of 10-7 on Thursday. Van's win was all the more impressive since the Rabbits were averaging only 3.33 runs allowed on the season.

Van's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grady Baetz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Asher Hawkins was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Van is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Atlanta's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Similarly, Atlanta (ranked 149th) will meet Jefferson (ranked 621st) at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Van is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
