Softball Recap: Mayfield Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Riverside, Mayfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the South Rebels 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Rebels since April 15, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Sarah Piazza, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Pinzone, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Mayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mayfield's record is now 11-13. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfield will host Nordonia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South, they will take on North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
