Football Recap: Saugerties Sawyers vs. Cornwall Central Dragons

Thursday just wasn't the day for Saugerties's offense. They were outmatched by the Cornwall Central Dragons on the road and fell 41-0. The Sawyers have struggled against the Dragons recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

A big part of Cornwall Central's win came down to the chemistry between Quinn Pikarsky and his top target Braden Murphy. Pikarsky threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes while Murphy picked up 95 receiving yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (104 yards to be exact) also went to Matt Cerone, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Saugerties' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Cornwall Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Port Jervis is coming into the matchup with four straight wins on the road, so Saugerties will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Cornwall Central, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Our Lady of Lourdes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of Lourdes will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
