The St. Johns Redskins will head out to take on the Round Valley Elks at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Johns is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
St. Johns can't be too worried about heading out to take on Round Valley: they just beat Mogollon at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Redskins walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redskins.
Brennon Leslie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Juan Calderon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
St. Johns was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Round Valley entered their tilt with Benson on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 8-3.
Lane Hill and Brenton Walker were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hill tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Walker pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Hill went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Walker went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Walker has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JJ Logan, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Round Valley pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Johns, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Johns has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Round Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
St. Johns couldn't quite finish off Round Valley in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
