Softball Recap: Masconomet Regional Takes a Loss

If Masconomet Regional was feeling good fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Saugus last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chieftains fell just short of the Beverly Panthers by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ally Kelter and Aimee Quimby stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kelter scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Quimby scored a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Schapp, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Masconomet Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Beverly, the victory was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Masconomet Regional will welcome Danvers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Beverly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tyngsborough at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
