Baseball Recap: Union City Wins Going Away Against Randolph Southern

Union City came out on top against Randolph Southern on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Indians put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 14-6 win. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Trendon Spence was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Union City is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Spence was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Jayson Connor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Hoggatt, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Union City's record is now 6-7. As for Randolph Southern, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Union City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-2 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 10th. As for Randolph Southern, they will square off against Northeastern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
