Baseball Game Preview: Crestwood Cadets vs. Waukon Indians

The Crestwood Cadets will head out on the road to challenge the Waukon Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waukon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crestwood, who comes in off a win.

Crestwood took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Charles City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cadets won by a run and slipped past the Comets 5-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since June 28, 2024, but that streak is no more.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Waukon and New Hampton meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Indians fell just short of the Chickasaws by a score of 13-11. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly two runs.

Crestwood's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-13. As for Waukon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Crestwood skirted past Waukon 3-1 when the teams last played on June 13th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
