Flag Football Game Preview: Legacy Lightning vs. Horizon Hawks

The Legacy Lightning are taking a road trip to challenge the Horizon Hawks at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Legacy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Gateway, posting a 35-0 victory. The contest marked the Lightning's most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Horizon waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolverines 40-6. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado flag football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Wolverines are ranked 65th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Horizon came from Madison Velotta, Lyla Waufle, Nevaeh Stukas, Genia Harris, and Sofia Di Annie.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Horizon's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Aven Medina with two. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times she's played.

Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Horizon, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Things could have been worse for Legacy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 20-6 loss to Horizon when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
