Baseball Recap: Ravenswood Wins Going Away Against Poca

Ravenswood entered their tilt with Poca on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Dots 18-2. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Red Devils this season.

Evan Hickman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hickman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Ravenswood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Joe Casto was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ralphie Rhodes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Ravenswood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Ravenswood's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Poca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.

Coming up, Ravenswood will challenge St. Marys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Poca, they will host Nitro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dots will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Wildcats will have lost seven straight heading into Friday's contest.
