Baseball Game Preview: Fremd Vikings vs. Palatine Pirates

For the second straight game, Fremd will face off against Palatine. The Vikings will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Pirates at 4:45 p.m. Fremd is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fremd and Palatine meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Vikings came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-2. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly four runs.

For Palatine's part, Carter Monroe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was Monroe's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Fremd pushed their record up to 16-0-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Palatine, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-7.
