Softball Game Preview: Etiwanda Eagles vs. Beaumont Cougars

The Etiwanda Eagles will face off against the Beaumont Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Etiwanda will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Etiwanda barely beat Yucaipa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Thunderbirds 8-1 on Saturday. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Etiwanda got a great performance from Mya Coleman as she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Coleman has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mia Diaz was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dailynn Battee, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Etiwanda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Beaumont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Sultana 4-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 25, 2025.

Etiwanda's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Beaumont, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Etiwanda was able to grind out a solid win over Beaumont when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 3-0. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
