Baseball Recap: Elyria Comes Up Short

Elyria had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it four. They fell just short of the Firelands Falcons by a score of 8-7. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

For Firelands' part, Garrison Lee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lee was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season.

In other batting news, Carter Jones was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Maxx Bray was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Elyria will face off against Avon Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Shoremen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Firelands, they are taking a road trip to challenge Wellington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dukes have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
