Softball Game Preview: Morse Shipbuilders vs. Belfast Lions

The Morse Shipbuilders will face off against the Belfast Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Morse is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Oceanside 26-2 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Belfast came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 13-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Gracie Moore, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Katience Parenteau, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Belfast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Morse's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Belfast, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Morse beat Belfast 9-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2017. Do the Shipbuilders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
