Roma won the last time they faced Martin and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gladiators had just enough and edged out the Tigers 3-2.

Roma wouldn't go down easily and took Martin into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-11, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12.

Despite the defeat, Martin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madelyn Espinoza had 15 digs and 14 assists. With that strong performance, Espinoza is now averaging an impressive 11 digs per game.

Roma's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Martin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, Roma and Martin will both be playing Palmview the next time they take the court. The Gladiators will host the Lobos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
