Baseball Recap: Mckean's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

McKean's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Newark Yellowjackets. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gavin Erbayri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of McKean's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-4-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Tumulty, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jey Oquendo, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-6-1. As for Newark, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, McKean will challenge Polytech at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Newark, they will welcome Brandywine at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
