Softball Recap: Frontier Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Frontier is still undefeated this season after their match against Fort Frye on Wednesday, but Fort Frye came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cadets a 1-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

The result came thanks to Kaycee Berentz's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Arnold, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Frontier pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Fort Frye, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frontier will take on Shadyside at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Frye, they will face off against Point Pleasant at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Blacks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cadets surely won't give up without a fight.
