Softball Recap: Paoli Drops Season-High Score on Cannelton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paoli). They never let the Cannelton Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jayda Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Keeley Scott was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Paoli was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Paoli's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Cannelton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paoli will face off against West Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cannelton, they will venture away from home to take on Perry Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
